Maoist leaders exploit women
December 26th, 2010 - 9:18 pm ICT by ANIRanchi, Dec.26 (ANI): A woman victim of Maoist atrocities expressed that how women are sexually exploited by Maoist leaders.
Sumita Kujur, a victim, appeared before the media on Sunday after her escape from the grip of Maoist leaders. She along with one of her friends was abducted by the Maoists.
Kujur said such tactics of befriending residents and then exploiting women is a common practice in the region.
“First they go to their home and behave well. But they don’t tell their whereabouts or any other information about themselves. They pretend to be unmarried. Usually they do this with poor people and they have made this a habit. Let alone tribal women, they do such activities with any girl,” said Kujur.
She further disclosed that the women of weaker sections including economically backward sections or minorities are forced to join Maoist organisations and then they are sexually exploited.
Villagers in the Maoist infected regions also complain that the Maoist cadres force children to take up arms at young age of 12-16 years.
Police officials in the region recently divulged the diktats of banned CPI (Maoist) leaders to their members against solemnizing marriages or engaging in love affairs by the cadres. (ANI)
