ManU only club for Ronaldos footballing ambitions: LawMay 30th, 2008 - 12:53 pm ICT by admin
London, May 30 (ANI): Former Manchester United forward Denis Law has said that ace striker Cristiano Ronaldo risks leaving the only club capable of fulfilling his footballing ambitions if he attempts to engineer a summer move to Real Madrid.
Youve just got to look at what hes done here at Manchester United and ask yourself, ‘What’s the point in him going to Real Madrid?
He has just won the Champions League and back-to-back titles, so why go anywhere else? He is at the most famous club in the world, who are not done with winning trophies, Law said.
They may have won a double this year but theyll be winning again on a regular basis. So if Ronaldo wants to be a winner, hes got to be staying here. It has happened that players have left United and done OK but invariably they don’t, Law said.
They mainly go away when they are past their best. But, for Ronaldo, United is where he is and where he should be, The Sun quoted Law, as saying.
Ronaldo has done little to distance himself from speculation emanating from the Spanish capital, suggesting that he is ready to end his five-year stint at United and consider a move to the Bernabeu.
The 42-goal Portuguese winger’s future is in doubt with Real Madrid showing their interest and doing their best to unsettle him.
But former Stretford End hero Law predicts a glittering future for Alex Fergusons current United squad and feels Ronaldo will want to be a part of it.
Law, 68, was speaking at the unveiling of a new statue at Old Trafford - the United Trinity comprising him, George Best and Bobby Charlton.
Their United side could not build on the European Cup triumph of 1968 and were relegated six years later. (ANI)
