Manmohan discusses Indian embassy attack with Karzai

New Delhi, Oct 11 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Saturday spoke with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and discussed the situation arising out of Thursday’s bomb blast outside the Indian embassy in Kabul.
According to official sources, Dr. Singh expressed his grief over the death of 17 Afghans.
Dr. Singh offered to arrange medical treatment for the critically wounded, they added.
Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao, who returned from Kabul on Saturday, had earlier said the people responsible for the blast were enemies of peace, democracy, the people of Afghanistan and the people of India.
Rao, however, refused to get into the specifics of the investigations nor did she reveal what New Delhi thought about who was behind it.
There has been speculation in the media that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) may have once again played a role in facilitating the miscreants behind the attack, as it allegedly did in a similar attack on the same premises in July 7, 2008.
Rao has already said the suicide attack in Kabul was directed at the Indian embassy. No embassy staff was killed in the attack, but three ITBP personnel deployed for security duties outside the embassy had received minor injuries. (ANI)
