Man shot dead in Srinagar
June 6th, 2011 - 5:09 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, June 6 (IANS) Unidentified gunmen killed a civilian in the heart of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar Monday afternoon, police said.
Muhammad Aslam Khan, 60, was shot outside Pratap Park adjacent to city centre Lal Chowk.
Khan, a resident of north Kashmir’s Sopore town, was taken to a hospital immediately after he was shot, but succumbed, a senior police officer told IANS here.
No separatist group has claimed responsibility for the murder so far.
It could not be immediately be established whether Khan was murdered for political or personal reasons.
“We are investigating the case. Khan was shot in the head from a close range,” the officer said.
