Maldives President to arrive in India today

New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): Maldives President Mohammad ”Anni” Nasheed will arrive here on a three-day visit today.
During his visit, Nasheed will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to hold talks on ways to further enhance ties between the two countries.
President Nasheed is also scheduled to meet Vice-President Hamid Ansari, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani.
Nasheed will also call on his Indian counterpart Pratibha Patil who will host a banquet in his honour. Maldives President will be accompanied by a delegation including a number of ministers and senior officials.
Maldives enjoys strong and cordial relations with India and has been a major partner of Maldives development extending generous assistance.
The Indian Government has pledged 100 million dollars in aid to Maldives during the recent visit of the new Government’’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Shaheed. (ANI)
