Melbourne, Aug.20 (ANI): Malaysias low cost airline Air Asia X is planning to offer 500-dollar flights to London.
The Malaysian-based airline today announced its latest international route between Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur that would begin on November 12, with one-way fares starting at 199 dollars.
Air Asia X CEO Azran Osman-Rani said they hoped to extend their service to Europe and the United Kingdom in the near future.
“With the exception of peak periods, I think normally we would be looking at a 299-dollar fare from Kuala Lumpur to London, so all-in (a return flight) of within 1000-dollars,”” the Herald Sun quoted Osman-Rani, as saying.
“That would probably be in the first half of next year as soon as we get our UK service going,”” he added.
Osman-Rani said the cheap flights will also help encourage Europeans to visit Australia.
The Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur service will begin with four return flights per week but will increase to daily return flights during the peak season of mid-December through to mid-January.
Kathleen Tan, regional head of Air Asia X, said the Melbourne route was one of the most requested Australian destinations by Malaysian travellers.
Tan also said the new service would link Melburnians to AirAsia’’s other connections in South East Asia.(ANI)
