Kuala Lumpur, July 28 (ANI): Keen to improve Malay Indian community rights, the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) is seeking the support of the Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF).

MIC President S. Samy Vellu confirmed that the party has had secret discussions with HINDRAF youth leaders in Kedah, Perak and Selangor, and added that these have gone well.

According to The Star, HINDRAF leaders and the MIC have realised that a joint effort is required to upgrade the living standards of the Malay Indian community.

Whatever happened in the past, especially in the March polls, is history. We must work together for the betterment of the community, the paper quoted Vellu, as saying.

However, HINDRAF National Event Co-ordinator Kannan Ramasamy has rubbished Vellus claims, saying none of the groups 10 coordinators had met MIC leaders.

HINDRAF national coordinator R.S. Thanenthiran agreed with Kannan, saying the best thing that happened from supporting the opposition was the awareness created on the plight of Indians. (ANI)
