June 3 (ANI): Making air travel costlier, major air-carriers have raised fuel surcharge from today.
The national air-carrier Air India announced its decision to hike fuel surcharge on Saturday while other carriers announced their hikes on Monday.
A passenger travelling with Jet would be charged 2,250 rupees as fuel surcharge for a distance up to 750 kms and 2,900 rupees for beyond 750 kms.
Kingfisher and Deccan too followed suit by hiking their fuel surcharge by Rs. 300 for short-haul and Rs. 550 for long hauls.
With spiralling global oil prices, the airlines have hiked fuel surcharge five times in the past five months, passing on the additional burden to the passenger. (ANI)
