Madhya Pradesh CM announces compensation for victims of Dewas bus accident
September 9th, 2010 - 11:52 am ICT by ANIDewas (Madhya Pradesh), Sep 9 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. one lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs. 10,000 to those injured in Wednesday’s bus accident near Dewas.
Over 100 people were travelling in the 52-seater bus, when the bus was swept away while it was crossing a bridge over the overflowing Bagri river.
“Sixteen bodies have been recovered so far. The vehicle was pulled out of the swollen river and no other body was found,” said Ujjain Commissioner T Dharma Rao.
It has been reported that around 25 people swam to safety, while three passengers were undergoing treatment at a hospital. (ANI)
