Madges Malawian toddlers biological dad demands visitation rightsJune 2nd, 2008 - 1:06 pm ICT by admin
Washington, June 2 (ANI): The biological father of the Malawian boy pop queen Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie have adopted is demanding visitation rights to the child.
The star couples adoption of two-year-old David Banda got completed in May this year, with Malawis High Court granting an ‘interim’ order allowing them to take the baby from a Malawian orphanage back to their London home.
Yohane Banda, the biological father of the baby, left him at the care home after his mother died in childbirth because the peasant farmer was unable to provide for the then-seven-month-old baby.
He, however, claims that the government officials had promised him that he would be accorded access to his son every three to four years as part of the adoption arrangement.
“I love the boy and it was in his best interests to put him in the orphanage. Because I support the adoption I would not want to put up a challenge that would reverse it, but I might challenge some aspects of the order, Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
“I am discussing with my family about following up on having access to the child. We will not leave things the way they are - we will do something about it,” he added.
Madonna and Ritchie have been facing flak from their critics ever since the process for Davids adoption started.
They were of the opinion that the star couple had been given special treatment to side-step the official adoption process. (ANI)
