Ludhiana Police seize three kilograms of heroin
November 22nd, 2009 - 2:21 pm ICT by ANILudhiana, Nov 22 (ANI): Police in Ludhiana have recovered three and a half kilograms of heroin from a fruit consignment.
The high-grade heroin being in valued at around 3.8 million dollars and was found in a consignment of pomegranate from Afghanistan.
Ludhiana Senior Superintendent of Police Sukhchain Singh Gill said : “They (the owners of Manjit Fruit Store) had ordered forty boxes of pomegranate from Afghanistan.When they checked these boxes, they found out that there were special sections made under these boxes which had heroin in them. We recovered two packets of heroin and after the tests we found out that this was the purest form of heroin and weighed around 3.5 kilograms.”
Earlier, the Punjab Police had arrested two Afghan nationals with two kilograms of heroin from Amritsar district, valued at USD 430,000 in the international market. (ANI)
