Lucknow, Sep. 19 (ANI): Ahead of final verdict in the Ramajanambhumi-Babri mosque case that is due to come on September 24 in Allahabad court, residents here on Sunday offered prayers to urge for peace and communal amity.
A Special Bench of the Allahabad High Court will give its verdict in the highly charged row over ownership of the disputed land at Ayodhya, revered as the birthplace of Lord Rama.
Today, the convenors of the inter-communal prayer meet said they were spreading the message of harmony across the Hindu and Muslim communities.
“Today here, ‘A message of peace for you’, through the medium of this demonstration, we want to give a message to the entire humanity ahead of the decision on the birthplace of Lord Ram Babri Masjid demolition case, which is going to be announced on (September) 24,” said Imran Khan, Convenor of mass prayer meeting, Lucknow.
“So, we wanted to give a message to the people of Lucknow and the world that no one here is a Hindu or a Muslim or a Sikh or a Christian. We are all one and would remain one,” he added.
He also mentioned the participants at the prayer meet had agreed to respect the decision of the court.
“On September 24, whatever is the decision taken by the Court, whether it is in favour of the mosque or in favour of the temple, we will respect that because both the places are the places of worship. For us, both the places are religious and places of worship and we believe in that,” said Imran Khan. (ANI)
