Lovestruck geek proposes marriage on Google Street View!August 8th, 2008 - 5:30 pm ICT by ANI
Melbourne , Aug 8 (ANI): A man has asked his girlfriend to marry him for the second time using Street View, Google Maps” online gallery of street-level panoramas.
The proposal can be seen by anyone.
After dating Leslie Moreno for “some years,” Michael Weiss-Malik, a lovestruck geek, had asked her to marry him in April, in what he calls “Proposal 1.0, which was “quiet and low-key and lacking in pizzazz.
Thus, he devised a bigger plan and made a large sign that read “Proposal 2.0: Marry me Leslie!” and hold it up as the Street View car rolled past his office.
Weiss-Malik, a Google employee, knew that the Street View cars would be updating the images of the street outside his Silicon Valley workplace, and held out the sun while others were doing a funny pose for the car-mounted cameras.
While Leslie was unaware of the stunt, Weiss-Malik had set up a website www.marrymeleslie.com, to explain his upgraded proposal and encourage visitors to tell Leslie about it.
“When she woke me up, she asked why there were all these strangers e-mailing her telling her to marry me,” The Sun quoted Weiss-Malik, as telling The Mercury News.
“I dare say that it’’s the first time anyone in the history of mankind has proposed marriage in quite this way,” he said on his website.
The couple is now planning for a wedding in May. (ANI)
