Lok Sabha Speaker disqualifies BJP and JD (U) MPs under anti-defection law

New Delhi, Oct 7 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today disqualified Dr. H. T. Sangliana and Ramswaroop Prasad from the membership of the House under the Anti-Defection Provisions of the constitution.
A Lok Sabha Secretariat statement said in New Delhi today that both Sangliana and Prasad were disqualified from the Lok Sabha under the tenth Schedule of the Constitution.
Dr. Sangliana, who was expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prasad, a Janata Dal-United (JD-U) member for defying their party whips in the crucial confidence motion in the Lok sabha on July 22nd this year.
BJP expelled Dr. Sangliana, who supported the government in the confidence motion, a day after the trust vote.
Meanwhile Prasad was too expelled from his party for defying the party whip and backing the UPA government. (ANI)
