New Delhi, July 26 (ANI): The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Monday.
The lower house assembled at 11 a.m., and was followed by Speaker Meira Kumar leading members in paying tribute to deceased former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and former union minister and Bihar MP Digvijay Singh.
On the 11th anniversary of Kargil operations, the members also paid homage to Kargil war heroes who fought valiantly to evict Pakistani soldiers.
The House also condoled the deaths in the Mangalore air crash, Gyaneshwari Express accident in West Midnapore and in the collision of Uttarbanga Express and Vananchal Express at Sainthia in Birbhum district of West Bengal.
Speaker Meira Kumar also remembered the victims of the naxal attacks on CRPF personnel in Narayanpur and Bijapur, and the killing of a sarpanch of a village in Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh.
“The House strongly condemns these dastardly attacks which are aimed at disturbing peace in the country,” Kumar said.
The House also stood in silence for a while as a mark of respect to the memory of departed after which it was adjourned. (ANI)
