LoC villagers get back their homes
August 27th, 2011 - 1:12 pm ICT by IANSJammu, Aug 27 (IANS) Residents of a Jammu and Kashmir village along the Line of Control (LoC) have got back their homes 10 years after they were evacuated in 2001 due to intense firing on the border, the Indian Army said Saturday.
The homes of more than 200 people were restored in Kerni village of Poonch district Friday, according to a spokesman of the army here.
The spokesman described it as an Eid gift to the residents.
Owing to heavy trans-LoC firing prevalent in 2001, the people of Kerni were relocated to Kallu area and New Colony in Poonch town.
Rafiq Ahmad, a resident, told reporters, it was a dream come true for him.
