New Delhi, Nov 15 (ANI): Lawyers staged a protest demonstration here today against the imposition of emergency and arrest of hundreds of their counterparts in Pakistan.
Holding placards lawyers raised slogans against Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf outside the Pakistani High Commission in Delhi.
Lawyers belonging to the legal cell of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested here to express their solidarity with thousands of Pakistani lawyers, who have been arrested or placed under house arrest.
Pinky Anand, National Convener of the legal cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said: “Lawyers across the world are united, they might be in Pakistan, Russia, America, Sri Lanka. We are gathered here to show our solidarity with the legal fraternity.”
Lawyers also demanded the release of their Pakistani counterparts.
Meanwhile, police in Pakistan’s Multan city today baton charged over a dozen stone-throwing lawyers chanting “Go Musharraf Go” before bundling them into trucks.
A dozen more were reportedly detained at the High Court in Lahore. (ANI)
