Lashker militant killed in Poonch encounter
September 5th, 2010 - 1:39 pm ICT by ANIPoonch (J-K), Sep 5 (ANI): A suspected militant of the Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was killed and a jawan injured in a gunbattle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch District on Sunday morning.
Acting on a tip-off, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) troops and police launched a search and cordon operation in the Bhatti-Dar area of Mendhar Tehsil.
During a search operation, a joint operation team came under heavy fire from the militants, resulting in a fierce gunbattle.
One injured jawan has been hospitalised. The body of the militant is yet to be recovered. (ANI)
