Srinagar/Dehradun, Jan. 9 (ANI): The Jammu -Srinagar National Highway, the only surface link between the state and the rest of the country, remained closed for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.
Border Road Organisation (BRO) officials is trying to clear the road.
Landslides at Panthal and Shetani Nullah areas in Ramban Banihal sector left the highway blocked and over 600 vehicles stranded.
The continuous heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir has thrown life out of gear in the border district of Kupwara. Various parts of the northern region remained cut off from rest of valley on third day today following closure of roads due to huge accumulation of snow. Tangdar road is also blocked.
The higher reaches of Uttarakhand today received the season’s first heavy snowfall bringing in cold wave conditions in the state. While the hilly areas were shivering under intense cold, the plains received this season’s second rainfall. (ANI)
