Patna, July 23 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday blamed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for coordinating a ‘murderous attack’ against protesting members of the Opposition.
Over 600 members of the youth wing of RJD were baton-charged by the police during a protest rally on Thursday.
“Nitish Kumar has orchestrated a murderous attack. Dozens of members of the youth wing, including its head, are down with brain hemorrhage. It was a shocking incident,” said Yadav.
“Nitish Kumar is trying to escape from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and is creating nuisance for anyone, who is trying to expose him,” he added.
Meanwhile, Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan also criticized Kumar, asserting that all the parties in the Opposition are together on corruption charges against Bihar Chief Minister.
“Nitish Kumar is now submitting a voucher of Rs 5000 crores, where did they make this voucher in two days? This is all fake. There should be another probe into this. We demand that the High Court should probe into the matter,” said Paswan.
The protestors were demonstrating outside the Bihar Assembly against the suspension of 67 lawmakers from the House due to their unruly behaviour.
Speaker Udai Narain Choudhry had on Wednesday suspended 67 Opposition MLAs on Wednesday for the rest of the session for their unruly behaviour in the House, which included 11 MLAs from the LJP.
The MLAs were marshalled out of the house by the watch and ward staff after a slipper was thrown at the podium of the Speaker.
The proposal to seek the suspension of the MLAs was brought in the House by state parliamentary affairs in-charge Brijendra Prasad Yadav, which was passed by voice vote amid protests by opposition members.
The uproar in Bihar Assembly was sparked off by a demonstration that came in the wake of a directive of Patna High Court ordering a CBI probe into Nitish Kumar’s role in the alleged irregularities of the State treasury, amounting to Rs 114 billion during his regime from 2005 onwards. (ANI)
