June 24th, 2010 - 2:32 pm ICT by ANIMumbai, June 24 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S M Krishna has said that nothing spectacular was expected from the series of high-level talks with Pakistan due to the complexity of bilateral ties between the two countries.
Talking to reporters here after visiting ailing cartoonist R K Laxman who is undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital, Krishna said: “I don’t expect anything spectacular because both the countries’ relationship is so complex.”
He further said Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao’s visit to Pakistan was mainly to prepare the ground for his visit to Islamabad next month”.
Krishna will visit Islamabad on July 15 for talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Earlier, Krishna said he and Qureshi would work out the methodology to carry forward the dialogue between the two countries so that all outstanding issues could be discussed in an atmosphere of mutual trust.
The Krishna-Qureshi talks will be the third major contact between the two countries in six months.
