kids of the retrenched employees of various State-run enterprises in Bihar took out a rally to draw attention of all to their plight.
Over 3,000 employees of various state-run firms have been retrenched over a period of time.
Children said, following their parent’s retrenchment, their families could no more support them to pursue education or learn anything. It has put their education career and childhood at stake as they are also suffering due to abject poverty prevailing in families.
“I want to study but cannot do so, as my father cannot support it. He has got received his pay for a long time at home. We cook on alternate days and do not celebrate any festival,” Khusabu, a child participant in the rally.
Scores of children voiced their concern through placards and banners, asking the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Bharadwaj to ensure employment for their parents and also support them.
“The school authorities ask us to pay the fees, but we cannot afford to pay the fees as my father is out of work. I want to study. This way I feel very miserable,” said
Joyati, another participant. (ANI)
