Ahmedabad, July 17 (ANI): The Crime Branch of the Gujarat Police arrested Vinod Dargi, the key accused in the Gujarat hooch tragedy, here on Friday.
Police also arrested two other associates of Dargi, Ajay Thakkar and Sunil along with him.
In a massive crackdown after the hooch tragedy the Gujarat Police booked more than 6,000 people for violating prohibition.
Narendra Modi Government came under criticism after the death of nearly 140 people in Ahmedabad hooch tragedy earlier in this month.
Meanwhile the Gujarat Government is planning to bring stringent law against those who indulge in manufacture and sale of illicit liquor.
Gujarat’s Home Minister Amit Shah said the State Government would introduce Bombay Prohibition (Gujarat Amendment) Bill 2009 in the assembly on July 28.
The amendment would include stringent action against those who indulge in manufacturing, constructing, selling, buying, and keeping, transporting etc of such spurious liquor, Shah said. (ANI)
