Key accused in Gangandeep murder case arrested
October 10th, 2009 - 3:13 pm ICT by ANIMeerut (Uttar Pradesh) Oct 10 (ANI): The Meerut police on Saturday arrested a person identified as Rahul Chaudhary, allegedly the key accused in the murder of India’s Under-19 cricketer Gangandeep Singh.
Rahul is the son of a head constable. The police also detained ten people including Rahul’s mother for questioning.
On Friday night, Singh was shot dead by an unidentified gunman when he had gone with his two teammates to a hotel in the city.
The hotel owner was killed along with Singh in the incident.
Gagandeep was in Meerut to play in the CK Nayudu cricket tournament.
Recently, Gagandeep Singh had been to Australia to play under-19 international tournament. He represented India in seven international matches.
Meerut’s Superintendent of Police Prabal Pratap Singh suspects that some old enmity was reason behind the attack. Police recovered seven empty shells from the spot of firing. (ANI)
