Kerala polls: UDF promises Re one/kg rice to BPL families
March 25th, 2011 - 9:39 pm ICT by ANIKochi, Mar 25 (ANI): The Election Manifesto of the Congress led-United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, which was released today, promised rice at one rupee a kilo for all Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders and at rupees two a kilo for others.
The manifesto also promised agricultural loans at three per cent interest, Hill Area Development Authority for the development of the hilly regions and providing electricity to all households within a year.
The manifesto also promised steps to boost production and productivity in the agriculture and industrial sector and prevention of exploitation by lotteries run by other states, among other things.
Other salient features of the manifesto are setting up of pepper and horticulture boards, backdoor appointments to be reconsidered, interest-free loans for purchasing computers and motorbikes for students, making Kochi metro project a reality, ensuring electricity connections to all households within one year and exploitation by operators of other State lotteries to be stopped.
The polling for 140 assembly constituencies in Kerala will be held on April 13. (ANI)
