Kenyan runner Augustine Ronoh wins Pune’s men marathon

Pune, Dec.6 (ANI): Ace long distance runner Augustine Ronoh of Kenya won the men’s marathon race held here on Sunday, covering 42 kilometres in 2 hours 13 minutes and five seconds.
“The race was very okay, the course was very good. With the support of the people of Pune, who cheered me on the way, I really enjoyed. I hope that something better comes up and I hope to come to 2010,” said Augustine Ronoh, winner of Pune International Marathon.
Hundreds of enthusiasts from all walks of life participated in the event which was 24th edition of the marathon.
Earlier, Union Minister of State for External Affairs minister Shashi Tharoor flagged off the race.
Tharoor reportedly said that Pune has acquired the status of becoming the sports capital of Maharashtra besides being the cultural and educational hub.
The runners were cheered by over 30,000 people.
Bollywood actor Neha Dhupia was also present on this occasion to cheer the participants. (ANI)
