Kateekal Sankaranarayanan takes oath as Governor of Jharkhand
July 26th, 2009 - 11:32 pm ICT by ANIRanchi, July 26 (ANI): Kateekal Sankaranarayanan on Sunday sworn in as the Governor of Jharkhand State, which is presently under President’s rule.
Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Gyan Sudha Mishra, administered the oath of office and secrecy at the Raj Bhavan to Sankaranarayanan in Ranchi on Sunday.
Sankaranarayanan, who was the Governor of Nagaland and Assam, succeeded Syed Sibtey Razi, who has been appointed as the Governor of Assam.
Sankaranarayanan has been a minister in the State Cabinets of K Karunakaran in 1977 and A K Antony in 2001 in Kerala.
Former External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha, besides former chief Ministers Arjun Munda and Babulal Marandi were among the several dignitaries who congratulated Sankaranarayanan on taking up as the Governor of Jharkhand. (ANI)
