Kashmir Valley reels under intense cold waveNovember 25th, 2007 - 10:00 pm ICT by admin
Srinagar, Nov 25 (ANI): The Kashmir Valley is reeling under intense cold wave, as temperature continues to fall below the freezing point.
The night temperature here plunged to minus four degree Celsius, the coldest night of this season so far.
According to official sources, though the winters are yet to set in, but due to the absence of the western disturbances originating from the Arabian Sea and clear sky during the day and night in the Valley have resulted in a drop in the temperature.
As the valley has not experienced any western disturbances and due to scanty rainfall and clear sky conditions, the temperatures, especially during the night are falling and continue to remain below the freezing point, said N. P. Batnagar, Director, Kashmir Metrological Department.
The residents of the state said that the cold wave conditions might break all records, as temperature continues to remain the normal level.
It is very cold this year. You can see people burring coal to keep them warm. Due to the dryness in the weather, people are falling sick, said Reyaz Ahmed, a local.
People were seen shopping for woollens and other accessories to counter the cold. (ANI)
