Srinagar, Sep 4 (ANI): Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that Kashmir issue has to be settled with the involvement of India, Pakistan and the people of the state.

Addressing a massive gathering here on Friday, Farooq said: “I want to emphasise on the fact that the issue of Kashmir is a multidimensional issue, concerning many sides. The violence in Kashmir and the widespread protest prove that the issue cannot be resolved by the involvement of only one side.”

“If the issue of Kashmir is genuinely sorted out, then India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir will have to come together,” he added.

According to media reports, the statement of Umar Farooq came when the central government has come up with a decision to have a dialogue with the locals of the strife-torn Kashmir valley.

The Kashmir Valley has experienced a surge of violence that has led authorities to impose frequent curfew restrictions in several parts of the State.

Curfew was initially imposed on June 30 in parts of northern and southern Kashmir to stop demonstrations over the death of a couple of protestors.

It was lifted some days later, but was again imposed as fresh violence erupted. (ANI)
