Karunanidhi to raise Sri Lankan Tamil issue with PM, Sonia Gandhi again

Chennai, Jan.12 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Monday said that he would once again raise the matter about Sri Lankan Tamilians during his meetings with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Karunanidhi said he would ensure bringing about ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in the island nation
“I will once again speak to Prime Minister and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi over the Lankan Tamils issue,” said Karunanidhi in the State capital.
Karunanidhi said that the country would do itself pride it could be stop the ongoing war in Sri Lanka.
“Our country will be proud if the war between the Sri Lankan Army and LTTE is stopped immediately,” said Karunanidhi.
Karunanidhi’’s today held a meeting with some political leaders including Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol Thirumavalavan and Dravida Kazhagam (DK) President K. Veeramani at his Gopalapuram residence over the Lankan Tamils issue.
Karunanidhi and Ramadoss after the meet told mediapersons that countries like America, Japan and Norway had urged the Sri Lankan government to bring about a ceasefire. They were interested to know why the government of India has not come forward to issue such a statement.
Karunanidhi had led an all party delegation to the national capital on Dec.4, 2008 to meet the Prime Minister Dr. Singh on the same Sri Lankan Tamils issue. (ANI)
