Chennai, Jan 3 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here today, and said the ties between the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) and Congress are still strong.
“It is as strong as the ties between you (media) and me,” he told reporters after meeting.
He said he had also requested Dr. Singh to quickly sanction funds for relief and rehabilitation.
During the meeting, Karunanidhi submitted a detailed memorandum to Dr. Singh on the damage caused by the rains last month in several districts of the state.
Tamil Nadu had earlier asked the central government for flood relief to the tune of Rs.1,800 crore. The state has seen heavy rains and floods in November last year.
This was the first meeting between the two leaders since the resignation of former Telecom Minister A Raja in the 2G scam. (ANI)
