Kargil war affected village demands government’s attentionJune 6th, 2009 - 7:17 pm ICT by ANI
Srinagar, June 6 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir’s Kharboo village is one of the many villages, which became the target of Pakistani shelling during the Kargil war.
Residents of the village say that their village lacks the basic amenities, which resulted from the indifference shown by the government.
There is no proper school in the village. A primary school was opened in the area recently but it is not functioning properly due to less number of teachers.
“Relief is being given to those who do not deserve and those who are in need are not getting the relief. The houses here are not in good shape. The children are not safe to venture out,” said Gulam Hassain, a resident.
The villagers in the region are mostly labourers.
“We are facing a lot of problems. There is no one to ask about our situation. For one year, we got some money and ration. After that, we have not received anything,” said Haji Gulam Rasool, another resident. (ANI)
