Kapil Sibal wants academic freedom for universities
March 25th, 2011 - 4:59 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): Emphasizing that mobility will be the key of development in a modern technology savy world, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal on Friday said there should be enough flexibility in the courses so that a person sitting in any part of the country can go for studies in a university situated in another part.
Sibal, who inaugurated a conference of Vice-Chancellors of Central and State Universities here, said: “Political interference must be stopped in appointing the Vice Chancellors of the Universities. In a modern technology savy world, mobility will be the key of development. There should be enough flexibility in the courses so that a person sitting in any part of the country can go for studies in a university situated in another part.”
It has been reported that discussions on various issues like research and innovation; faculty development and good governance is expected to take place during the two-day conference, which kicked off today. (ANI)
