Kanimozhi slams opposition for making false promises
April 1st, 2011 - 6:00 pm ICT by ANIPerambalur/ Madurai, Apr 1 (ANI) Campaigning ahead of April 13 state assembly polls, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s daughter and DMK MP Kanimozhi on Friday criticised the opposition parties, saying that they did not fulfil the promises they had made at the time of elections.
“Our leader (M. Karunanidhi) is the only person who does things without giving fake promises to the masses. Others would just promise things but will not fulfil them. They would not turn towards those promises after the elections,” she said.
She also condemned the opposition parities for targeting Karunanidhi during their campaigns.
“They just gave pain to the people of Tamil Nadu. Those who are behind it are now blaming our leader,” she added.
Meanwhile, Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister M. K. Alagiri too alleged the opposition targeted the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK).
He said the incident of removal of security from his house was to sabotage election campaigning of the party.
“The motive for pruning the security, when I was away in an intensive election campaign, particularly without any prior notice, was to sabotage the electioneering,” he added.
Regional parties dominate the political scene in Tamil Nadu with DMK winning the majority of seats in the 2006 elections.
A total of 2,773 candidates will contest for seats in 234 Tamil Nadu Assembly constituencies. (ANI)
