Lucknow, Jan.5 (ANI): Former Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh launched a new political party–Jan Kranti Party-here on Tuesday on his 78th birthday.
This is the second time Kalyan Singh has launched a party within a decade. But announcing the formation of his new party here he said that his son Rajbir Singh will be the party’s national president.
Rajbir is lovingly called Raju Bhaiya.
“I hereby announce with the consent of all my party supporters that former Health Minister Rajbir Singh or Raju Bhaiya will be the national President of the new party. I, on behalf of the convenor of the party, announce that I will work for strengthening the party to the best of my abilities. We also decided that I will visit every district with Raju Bhaiya and we have to work hard for the next general elections,” said Kalyan Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajbir Singh mentioned that Hindutva and nationalism would be the guiding light of the party.
“The ideology of our new party will be Hindutva and nationalism and those who agree with our ideologies, they are welcome,” said Rajbir Singh.
Over a decade ago, Kalyan Singh who headed the Uttar Pradesh government thrice, parted ways with BJP and had floated his party Rashtriya Kranti Party in December 1999.
In August 2003, Kalyan Singh joined hands with regional Samajwadi Party (SP), but returned to BJP before the general election in 2004.
He again snapped ties with the BJP on January 2009 and contested the elections as an independent candidate from Etah district and won the seat.
But Samajwaid Party broke ties with the Hindutva-minded Kalyan Singh after November 2009 by-elections. (ANI)
