Basu is being treated for pneumonia at a private hospital in Kolkata.
“Basu’s condition is more or less stable and doctors are trying to check his pneumonic infection,” said physician A K Maity. It would take some time for him to recover, he added.
The 95-year old veteran leader was admitted to Apollo Gleneagles hospital here on Friday following a severe chest infection.
The doctors after conducting a proper check-up had detected that Basu was suffering from slight pneumonia.
Earlier in July, Basu was admitted to the hospital complaining of discomfort in the abdomen and a disturbed sleep. (ANI)
