Jyoti Basu suffers multi-organ failure

New Delhi, Jan.15 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Jyoti Basu on Friday evening was stated to have suffered multi-organ failure.
Basu had been put on life support system in the evening at the AMRI Hospital, where he was admitted on January 1 after complaining for pneumonia.
Doctors at AMRI Hospital have stated that Basu’s lung, kidney and haemo dynamic system have failed. Besides his heart is partially affected. He is presently sinking after having stabilized earlier.
” Three organs–lung, kidney and the haemo dynamic system have failed and his heart is partially affected. His condition sank earlier, then stabilised. He is sinking again now,” Dr Susruth Banerjee, a doctor told media.
He said, the 95-year-old former chief minister of West Bengal Jyoti Basu underwent dialysis for three hours on Friday and would also undergo it on Saturday. (ANI)
