Nagpur, Apr 4 (ANI): Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily has said the Judicial Standard and Accountability Bill slated to be presented before the monsoon session of the parliament would enhance transparency of the judicial system.

“We are already worked out and after its due deliberation with the juries, judges and everybody we are now bringing a bill called Judicial Standard and Accountability Bill,” said Moily, while addressing mediapersons in Maharashtra.

“It will replace the Judges Enquiry Act of 1964 that is before the standing committee of the Parliament. I think maybe if that report comes in the next Monsoon session, we will bring about that. That will bring out a lot of transparency in the administration of that,” said Moily.

He stressed on developing infrastructure of the subordinate courts of the country and the steps being taken by the government in this direction.

“Yes, the infrastructure in the sub-ordinate courts is very important that is why we have approached this question on two angles. Number one, on reform angle. Reform angle, I have given upon the 13th Finance Commission to provide Rs. 5,000 crores and that has been redistributed amongst all the states,” he said.

He also said that equipping the sub-ordinate courts including the district courts with regard to the E-court IT facilities is also important.

He gave the details of the funds being allocated by the government for the same.

“We have obtained the particulars from all the country with regard to the infrastructure requirement of the sub ordinate courts it has come to about 10, 000 crores, we are providing about 7,500 crores and it is going to the cabinet to be approved,” Moily added.

He further said an acute shortage of space was delaying the process of expansion of the court premises.

Moily also said the government has so far spent Rs. 3,000 crores for the E-court programme and all reforms would be implemented over a period of next four years. (ANI)
