Jharkhand police recover huge cache of arms, ammunition of Maoists

Simdega (Jharkhand), June 22 (ANI): The security forces have recovered arms and ammunition belonging to the Maoists in Jharkhand’s Simdega District.

According to police, on Monday, troops were patrolling the area as part of the ongoing anti- Maoist operations when they spotted some persons near a forest, whom they suspected of being Maoists.

“As we were proceeding towards a forest area we saw some suspected persons. They began running as we chased them. We cordoned off the forest area but they managed to escape, as the forest is very dense, leaving the material,” said Ajay Singh, Assistant Commander, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Meanwhile, in Bihar’s Gaya District, police arrested a man who pretended to be a Maoist to extort money from locals.

“Due to efforts of everybody, the case has been solved. Everything has been revealed. The main accused, Rakesh Kumar Yadav, has been arrested,” said Amit Lodha, Senior Superintendent of Police.

“We have recovered mobile phone from him that was used to demand extortion money. Due to his arrest, many cases have been solved. He had demanded extortion money from 20 people,” he added. (ANI)
