Acting upon information received about the Maoists’ hideout, police arrived at the site where they exchanged fire with members of the Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC).
Police arrested the leader of the JPC, Girivar Chaudhary, and his associate, Vijay.
“JPC members were hiding in a forest in Chaudhasa village and were arrested and we are investigating the matter,” said Lakshman Prasad, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Palamu region.
Police had surrounded the areas near the hideout when the Maoists began firing and tried to escape but failed to do so.
