Jharkhand Disham Party calls for 12-hr shutdown in West Bengal on Friday

Kolkata, Nov 29 (ANI): The Jharkhand Disham Party (JDP) has called for a 12-hour shutdown in West Bengal on Friday in protest against atrocities on Adivasis in Guwahati.
This was announced by West Bengal State Jharkhand Disham Party Committee Secretary and MP Aviram Basra in Purulia town today.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has also lent support to the shutdown as also the JMM (S).
Ajit Prosad Mahato, President of the West Bengal state JMM(S) committee protested the atrocity on Adivasis in Assam and demanded compensation for the relatives of the victims.
He also urged arrest of the culprits and exemplary punishment for those involved in the brutality.
Earlier, Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda has urged the Assam Government to ensure the safety of tribals who had migrated to Assam.
The Asom Gana Parishad and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have also demanded dissolution of the Congress-led coalition government and institution of a judicial probe.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) held the Assam Government responsible for violence.
The tribals in Guwahati blamed the police for the incident in which at least 12 people were killed. (ANI)
