Simply saying that JK is an integral part of India does not clarify the whole picture. The POK and Baltistan, Skardhu,Hunza
and Gilgit areas has to be taken care of. As is well known that Jinnah dubiously and illegaly invaded and occupied these ares in October 1947. Part of it, about 5000 sq miles was donated to China by Pakistan in 1962 as a gift - ‘easy got, easy spent’ (maale muft, dile be raham). That is the reason that Pakistan never conducted any elections or cared for these areas for last 62 years. It is for the first time they have undertaken elections in the so called Northern areas. This in itself shows that “Pakistan has been told to do what it is supposed to do”. The carot and stick of US make, along with the compulsive ‘do or be doomed bamboo’ of the ‘Taliban’ brand has lastly forced Pakistan to accept it as a last ditch solution. “Laaton ke devataa, baaton se nahin maanate”. It is a too simplistic view for the sake of brevity that is presented.

But, if the inevitable does become evitable, it will be the victory of evil over the righteous. This will be very injurious and calamitous for the posterity. Because the ‘right of might’ is accepted. This goes against the very basic foundations of Abraham Lincoln’s
philosophy of “Of the People, By the People and For the People”, lest we wish to limit it to his Gettysburg Dedication. In other words, spoken plainly, it will be a strangulation of the basic principles of “Secular, Socialist, Democratic Republic” institution.

Then it will not be a peaceful solution but a peaceful truce and a resolution for a preparation for the next war. We all know that all the three wars were initiated by Pakistan since 1947 besides the other smaller skirmishes. I do not want to speculate things beyond what I have said and done.

Let us see. Time is the best mirror.

    Dr. O. P. Sudrania
