J-K police file 3 FIRs against Mirwaiz Farooq for instigating violence
September 12th, 2010 - 11:53 pm ICT by ANISrinagar, Sep. 12 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Police have lodged three First Information Reports against Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for instigating violence and arson on the occasion of Eid on Saturday.
A total of four First Information Reports against some individuals for instigating violence and arson which resulted in gutting of some government Offices and Public Property in Srinagar on Saturday.”Three FIRs have been registered against Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at Police Station Safakadal, Kothibagh and Shergari. At Safakadal Mirwaiz, Yaqoob Vakil, Nissar Rather and others instigated people to proceed towards Lalchowk. His Eid Speech, was highly inflammatory and anti-national in content. In this context, FIR No. 128/2010 Under sections 13-Un lawful activities (Prevention) Act, 148,149 of RPC has been registered in Police Station Safakadal., said an official release. At Lal Chowk area, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yaqoob Vakil, Nisar Rather and Mushtq-ul-Islam by their speeches instigated the public to resort to arson and damage public property.
An FIR No. 59/2010 under sections 13 Unlawful activities (Prevention) Act, 436,109,153-A, 156 of RPC and Section 3 of Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act has been registered against them at Police Station Kothibagh. (ANI)
