J-K Govt. abolishes toll tax on Srinagar Highway to boost tourism
May 2nd, 2011 - 4:15 pm ICT by ANISrinagar, May 2 (ANI): In an endeavor to attract more tourists, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has abolished toll tax on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway, which has been opened for vehicular traffic today.
“According to Chief Executive Officer of Sonamarg Development Authority, the Government has decided to give concession to vehicle owners and transport operators plying on Srinagar-Kargil Leh highway,” said an official spokesperson here.
He said the Sonamarg Development Authority shall not levy entry fee from this year at Shutkadi in Sonamarg area, around 85 kilometers from here, on any vehicle plying on the National Highway connecting the Valley to Ladakh region.
The 434-kilometers long Srinagar-Leh National Highway was closed for vehicular traffic on November 26 last year for winter after the high altitude areas of the Valley including Zojila pass experienced heavy snowfall. (ANI)
