New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): Expelled senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jaswant Singh made a comeback to the party 10 months after being ousted ignonimously for writing a book ‘in praise’ of Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Jaswant’s re-induction to the party fold was announced at a press conference here by the BJP President Nitin Gadkari in the presenc of senior BJP leaders like Lal Krishan Advani, Sushma Swaraj and General Secretaries.
Expressing his delight, BJP President Gadkari said: “It’s a day of great joy for all party workers. What happened earlier is now a past, Jaswant ji has been a guide to the party. He is a senior leader.”
“BJP will benefit from Jaswantji’s leadership,” Gadkari added.
Speaking at this occasion, Advani said: “The return of Jaswantji will strengthen the party.”
Reminiscing how he started his political career in Rajasthan and also met Jaswant Singh in the same state for the first time, Advani said: “I am feeling quite delighted. I am very happy and have a sense of relief that with Jaswantji’s cooperation the party will strengthen.”
Jaswant Singh, on this occasion, said: ” Gadkariji has extended great respect to me. After being elected as BJP’s President, he visited me to seek my blessings.”
“We even held a two-hour meeting just a few days earlier. The kind of respect he gave me was not just a formality. I unreservedly extend my gratitude to him,” he added.
“It’s good to be back amidst familiar faces.”
” I wish to unreservedly express my great gratitude to Advaniji for his initiative some months back. He called me to ask if we could talk and I visited his house. He asked me “can you treat this chapter as closed?” I was humbled by his gesture.” (ANI)
