Italy’s Ducati to enter Indian superbike market

New Delhi, May 8 (ANI): Eyeing the potential for superbikes in the market, Italian-based Ducati Motor, the world’s leading producer of racing motorcycles announced its entery into the Indian market with its premium range vehicles.
The company aims to be the market leader in the high-end bike segment that is to be priced between rupees 15 lakh and rupees 50 lakh.
Ducati’s venture is in partnership with Precision Motor India Private Limited (PMIPL). Both firms will develop a detailed launch strategy for the Indian market in few months.
As per the agreement, PMIPL will be the exclusive importer of Ducati motorcycles in India.
Gabriele Del Torchio, Chief Executive Officer, Ducati, while speaking to media person here, said that he was looking forward to a long-term strategy within India.
“A lot will depend on our ability to create a strong platform for our future revolution. The choice that we made to work with distributors that we have identified in India is very important because it will create this platform. They have a lot of experience in dealing with luxury products,” he said.
PMIPL also sells brands like Porsche, Audi, NetJets, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana in India.
“As of today we have launched the entire model range in India. We have five bikes on display here that does not limit us from supplying sports classic or multi-strada either. We are available to supply the sports classic or multi-strada to the Indian customers,” said Ashish Chordia, chairman and chief executive officer PMIPL
The partnership promises to strengthen significantly over time as Ducati sees immense potential for penetration into the Indian market.
Ducati, whose racing bikes are driven by Australian world champion Casey Stoner is a brand synonymous with racing success, innovative technology and the highest quality standards. (ANI)
