Hyderabad, July 11 (ANI): Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman K. Radhakrishnan has offered prayers at the Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh for a successful launch of the satellite PSLV-C15.
Radhakrishnan, along with 10 other scientists involved in the project, arrived at Tirumala Hills late on Saturday night.
“On July 12 we have a launch schedule that is the PSLV- C15 (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle). The satellite that we are sending, one is Cartosat 2-B. It’s a higher resolution remote sensing satellite,” Radhakrishnan said.
The satellite would help in urban planning and infrastructure development such as laying ring roads and rerouting of highways.
The ISRO chief offered prayers by keeping a replica of the vehicle at the foot of the idol at the shrine, early on Sunday morning.
Radhakrishnan also said that ISRO is expected to launch Chandrayaan-2, an indigenous cryogenic engine by 2013.
“Chandrayaan-2 we are planning by 2013. Basically there will be an orbiter and there will be a lander and we will take a rover to the surface of moon. That is the main objective and in the orbiter also we will have a few scientific instruments kept. This will be launched by GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle),” he said. (ANI)
