Islamabad should take action against JuD: Burney

Chandigarh, Dec 12 (ANI): Pakistan Human Rights activist, Ansar Burney, has said that Islamabad should take action against Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) for being a terrorist outfit, and should also set aside its differences with New Delhi and join the fight against militancy.
“If you have arrested, then bring them in front of the people and produce them in the court. JuD has written against me. They have instigated my people against me,” said Burney.
Burney said that the JuD is actually frontal organisation of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Pakistani security forces recently raided a camp used by LeT in a strike against the militant group blamed by India for Mumbai attacks.
Burney said the situation in Pakistan has worsened, and even India, is being affected by it.
“I would say for sure that militancy has increased there in Pakistan. India and Pakistan should have helped each other earlier itself and should have sat down to fight these militant forces. The idea should have been that if the younger brother (Pakistan) is suffering, the elder brother (India) should have helped it out. But now, the fire has engulfed the house of the elder brother (India) also,” said Burney.
India and the United States have pressed Pakistan to act against militants suspected of being behind the Mumbai attacks.
Islamabad has promised to cooperate in the investigation, but has vowed that anyone caught in Pakistan would be tried in Pakistani courts only.
The tensions have already put a four-year-old peace process between the two countries in jeopardy. The United States has advised India to act with restraint while saying the onus was on Pakistan to take action against any group involved in last month’’s Mumbai attack.
According to experts, Pakistan is under pressure than ever before to act swiftly because the United States sees cooperation in the Mumbai attacks investigation as part of Islamabad’’s commitment to the global war on terror.
LeT has been reportedly involved in terrorist attacks against India. (ANI)
