Islamabad HC reserves verdict on Dr Khans detention until July 21
July 17th, 2008 - 2:31 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad , July 17 (ANI): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reportedly reserved its judgment on the alleged detention of Pakistan nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan until July 21.
Ahmer Bilal Soofi, the counsel for the federal government, said that IHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam heard the habeas corpus petition filed by Dr AQ Khans lawyer Javed Iqbal Jafferi.
Jafferi presented a letter written by Dr Khan to the chief justice in which he denied that he had said anything against the national interest. He said the media had often misquoted him on the nuclear proliferation issue.
In his letter Dr Khan said: I beg to submit that the media has misquoted me on several occasions I am confined to my house/sub-jail and have no direct control or power to influence the media.
He added on the contrary vested interests carry on disseminating disinformation as well as malicious propaganda against me. (ANI)
