London, Nov 14 (ANI): New York Senator Hillary Clinton is being considered to serve as Secretary of State in the President elect Barack Obamas Administration, according to reports.
Two unnamed advisers to Obama told NBC News that the former first lady was in the running for the job, Telegraph reported.
Clinton fought a bitter battle with Obama for the Democrat nomination, however the pair later put their differences aside to campaign together against the Republican candidate John McCain.
Clintons husband also took to the stage in the final days of the campaign to give Obama his support.
Clinton was seen taking a flight to Chicago today, but it is unknown whether she had any meeting or conversations with Obama during her visit.
Clintons office would only say that any decisions on the appointment would be up to the president-elect. The former first lady is in her second term as a senator from New York.
Several other names also have been mentioned for Secretary of State including Senator John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, who was UN ambassador in former President Bill Clintons Administration and also sought the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.
In the US the Secretary of State is the head of the United States Department of State, concerned with foreign affairs. The Secretary is a member of the Presidents Cabinet and the highest-ranking cabinet secretary both in line of succession and order of precedence. (ANI)
